Google Voice Set-Up
Before you order for your Google Voice number, first decide which Google voice setup suits your needs. There are different types of set up available which should be chosen carefully. Now, that you know your account type, go to the Google Voice signup page and follow the given instructions. You’ll be given the option to either go for a new Google Voice number or use an existing number.
In the next step, you’ll have to select a PIN to retrieve all your messages to access your Google Voice settings through your phone. After this, you’ll be asked to enter a forwarding number. The forwarding number is nothing but the phone that will ring when someone calls your Google Voice number. Lastly, you need to verify your phone. Google Voice will send you a numerical code to enter when Google Voice calls your forwarding phone which will verify that the phone number you gave is authentic.

Google Voice users residing in the US can place their outbound calls to domestic and international destinations through the Google Voice web-based application, by dialing their Google Voice phone number or with the help of Google Voice mobile app.
Domestic and outbound Google Voice calls to Canada and US are free, and will cost $0.01 per minute from other countries.
Whereas Google Voice international rates could vary – one can check the official Google Voice international rates page which can give the user better idea regarding the rates.
Google Voice iPhone vs. Google Voice Android
For iPhone users, there is a Google Voice app as well. This lets users manage their Google Voice account settings and voicemail from their iPhone. Though the only problem being its poor ratings. On the contrary, the Google Voice for Android app has quite better ratings. The reason lies in Google Voice being more compatible with the Google Android operating system.
