Social media has undoubtedly become an indispensable part of our everyday life. It is a cool way to be updated and stay connected which otherwise is next to impossible due to our busy lives. Using social media is not at all an issue rather the harmless fun turning into an obsession is.
Most of us have subconsciously become addicted to social media and we don’t even realise it. So, how does one check for the signs of social media addiction? To make it easier, I have a list of which can help you. Go on!!
#1. The first thing you do in the morning is to religiously go through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.
#2. You keep checking your phone every now and then. You are desperate not to miss any notification, tweet or update.
#3. You think your world is over when you have no internet access. You would prefer to die than live in a world without Twitter, Facebook or other social media is down.
#4. With every new location, you just have to check in to let everyone know where you are.
#5. You make sure that people know the minutest thing happening in your life. Be it having breakfast, cooking, shopping and blah, blah, blah.
#6. You’re in stress and can reach the point of depression if someone doesn’t respond to your friend request.
#7. You spend at least 4 hours or maybe more everyday day on social media which leaves you with hardly any social life.

#9. You are famous in your circle for sending urgent requests on Facebook to your family and friends to send you ‘lives’ on Candy Crush, as if your world would come to an end without it.
#10. You are quite used to waking up in the middle of the night to check your social media updates.
#11. You literally feel killing yourself if you are unable to upload your photos.
#12. You’re a pro in spending hours looking at nonsense, be it the same posts or something posted a year before. It really doesn’t matter to you.
#13. There is no denying that Facebook and Twitter are 1000% your most visited tabs which most probably has been already bookmarked.
#14. There doesn’t exist a day without social media for you. You have to use it anytime, anywhere and anyplace. Maybe even while you’re dying.
#15. You consider people without a social media account as zombies or alien.
#16. You’re phone has become almost your life partner, always around you. Even charging it in the other room can be the most frightening thought.
#17. Stalking friends via Twitter, Facebook and other social media accounts is your favourite pastime.
#18. if not a desktop, you will be using some or the other social media platform on your phone.
#19. You feel like you’re on cloud nine when a picture of yours gets past 100 likes.
#20. Whatever you eat has to pass through the scanner of Instagram, Pinterest etc before entering your mouth.
#21. You are pretty okay with adding strangers on Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin to have a humungous list of friends to show off.
#22. Your family and friends are irritated by your habit of checking various apps even when you are supposed to be spending time with them.
#23. You feel bad and irritated when there are no comments on your updates on Facebook.
#24. Just to make your photo visible and more like, you tag your friends on pictures which has nothing to do with them.
#25. Nothing else is more important than your profile picture or any photo related to you. You even know which is the best time to share or post something.
#26. LOL (laugh out loud), FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), BRB (Be right back) are part of your vocabulary.
#27. You feel that life is more happening and beautiful on social media than in reality.
#28. You have no qualms in spending a lot of work hours on social media.
#29. You find it weird and uncomfortable to stay in touch with your friends without using any social media platform.
#30. You have gone through the end of the never ending homepage at least once or maybe more.
#31. If you have to wait at a bus stop, for a meeting or for that matter even a single sec that you are alone, you do not miss the chance to have a look at the different apps.
#32. You like your own post. This clearly indicates not only to being an addict but narcissist as well.
#33. You are obsessed with the concept of a perfect status update or tweet. Behind most of your updates or tweets lies a lot of editing, deletion and re-writing.
